A Level and GCSE English Tutoring Fees
What are your 2024 fees?
£35
An initial one-hour session.
£45
A one-hour session aimed at Key Stage 3 students (aged 11-14 years) requiring support with their existing school work.
£50
A one-hour session aimed at GCSE and A Level students requiring support with their existing school work.
£70
An extended session aimed at GCSE and A Level students.
These sessions involve 60 minutes of teaching time followed by a break and then 30 minutes of feedback on a student’s written work or pre-prepared notes. This feedback is usually interactive and undertaken with the student as a learning activity; it can also be provided in writing. This can be done in person from my home classroom in Kendal, Cumbria or online.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
My fees are determined by the following factors:
– The preparation time required before each tutoring session.
– The contact time that a student requires outside each timetabled session.
– A student’s wish for feedback on written work or practice examination papers.
– The resources that a student needs to support their independent work.
Some families prefer to design bespoke blocks of tutoring sessions that include teaching, resources, marking, feedback, and questions by email.
-
After an initial session - which is invoiced individually - tutoring sessions are booked and paid for in blocks of 4, 6, or 8 weeks. There is a 10% discount for sessions booked in 6 or 8 week blocks.

Absolutely! If two or more students want to share revision sessions or work on the same topic or specific English literature text, then fees can be split between parents and students to make tutoring as affordable as possible.
